The moreneta

Legend tells that in 880, on a Saturday evening, one shepherd looked down from heaven a great light, accompanied by a beautiful melody that stopped halfway up the mountain. They returned the following week with their parents and the vision was repeated.

 The fact was repeated for several weeks. And they went to contemplate in the company of the parish priest of Olesa de Montserrat.

 Warned of event, the bishop of Manresa went to the place and decided they should go up to the area where the mysterious light stopped.
 There they found a cave where they found the image of Mary with child on arms. He decided then that this had to be transferred in procession has headquarters in Manresa.

Trying to move this became increasingly heavy to the point that they could not hold nor with the help of anyone present. So it was the divine will to understand that this image was worshiped in this mountain and a chapel attached to the cave was built for that purpose.
